Researchers create categories for food scares

Researchers from the University of Surrey have developed a new categorization system for food scares, which did not previously exist. Now including categories like “willful deception,” “chemical contamination,” and “transparency issues,” this new structure classifies food scares according to both their physical manifestation and the origins of the scare. “With food scares becoming more frequent, it is important that we have a system which enables efficient development of strategies to tackle such compromises to our food supply,” says professor Angela Druckman, University of Surrey.
